whimsicalwinds: (092. suddenly bump into a)
[action a - noon]
[After doing his normal cleaning and cooking at House 40 in the morning, Hayate finds out about the results for the Secret Santa drawing, and well... ah yes. Luke. He knows Luke. Vaguely. They met once. Maybe twice. It certainly wasn't enough times for Hayate to have gotten to know him and learn about his interests, though, so... an investigation is in order! After all, he wants to be sure that he has at least some idea of what Luke may like for the holidays.

So he decides to perform this investigation in the most eloquent way possible. You know, by basically following the kid around for an hour or two. Maybe three. Whether it be hiding behind trees, within bushes, around the corners of buildings, under a box... he's just. following him around the village. yep. He's also wearing a black fedora and large glasses with a nose and mustache attached, because clearly that is the best disguise.

Super stealthy. Right here.

((ooc; also since some have asked, yes this prompt is open to all!))]

[action b- afternoon]
[Once Hayate's done creeping on Luke for the day, he goes about his normal shopping! Which means mostly the grocery store, but he does need to try finding some gifts for people, so he stops by the item and clothing shops as well. While in one of the stores, though, he does happen to find a violin, which he ends up staring down for a few long moments before picking it up and heading back home to CH7.

Feel free to bump into him in the stores, or even on the way home! Maybe not literally, though. I mean. Just look at all those groceries, that violin, and that box used for ultimate stealth purposes...]

[voice... c???- also afternoon...]
[Aaaaand then while home, he'll throw up a voice entry...!]

Ahh... It's strange how quickly time flies, isn't it? To think that I came here a little over nine months ago, and have even turned seventeen while here... it's really strange to think about! Perhaps this is how the Pevensies felt after spending so much time in Narnia... And if that's the case, I wonder if whenever I return home, it'll be as if only a few seconds have passed since I left?! That's what happened to them, after all. But if that were to happen, does that mean I could grow old here, and then suddenly go back home as a young, beardless and wrinkleless boy again? [...] ...This is beginning to sound like Luceti could be advertised on TV as a new and unorthodox anti-aging product... [squint...]

...Anyway! It's December, so that means the new year is coming up, right? What do you all usually do during that time of year? Whether it be what you did back at home, or even in Luceti. I wasn't here last year or anything, so I'm a little curious on the latter as well, actually.

[action d- evening]
[You know that violin Hayate discovered in the plaza earlier today? Yeah, he's putting that to use...! So that night (not too late though!), he decides to sit outside of CH7, playing his new instrument for a bit. It's been a while since he last played one, however, so he's a liiiittle bit rusty! But the song he is playing still should sound pretty nice!

He'll be out there for some time, so come bother him yes.]
whimsicalwinds: (117. don't worry!)
[Voice | Filtered from Yuri Nakamura]
[After doing his normal every day chores like cooking and cleaning over in House 40, Hayate realizes just how hard Yuri has been working on this volleyball tournament thing she's been planning! Between the planning itself, recruiting, and all the posters and flyer she and Hayate had to make just a couple days ago, it's quite a bit of work, yep. And you know what comes after the tournament? Her birthday. Which... Hayate is positive most people don't know about, since lol Yuri telling people it. So before heading on out to pass out flyers and all, he throws a voice entry up in his journal.]

Hello, Luceti!-- [...pause.] A-ah, I should probably filter this, shouldn't I... [..Yeah gonna go ahead and do that! Not really much of a strong filter, but oh well. Hopefully that'll do?!] Hm... There we go! Okay! So ah.. How should I put this... For any of you who happen to be friends with Yurippe-san, her birthday happens to be coming up! It's on the 30th of this month. I'm pretty sure she wouldn't have mentioned it to many people, but seeing as how she works very hard here, I figured her friends should know about it, ahaha..

Yurippe-san mentioned putting together a volleyball tournament a few weeks ago, so I urge any and all of you to join that! It'll be a lot of fun. If you have any questions on that, you could ask her! Or I suppose you could ask me as well and I could just relay the question to her, aha... It's like I've become a messenger boy... But ah, I'll be handing out flyers Yurippe-san and I made later on, so if you're interested, they'll be around in the plaza!

I think that's about it, so... Thank you for listening, and I hope you all join in on tournament!

[Filtered to Madoka]
Are you busy at all today, Kaname-san?

[Action]
[Just as promised, later on in the mid to late afternoon, Hayate will be out in the plaza, hanging up posters and handing out flyers for the volleyball tournament, yup. Feel free to bump into him while he's out and about! Or well. He'll just be holding out of the flyers out to you. And yeah.]

((ooc; OOC plotting and sign-ups for the volleyball tournament are over here!))

tl;dr )

Hello, people of Luceti! My name is Hayate Ayasaki. [..How should he approach this again..] ..Ah, back at home, I happen to be a butler. Milady isn't here though, so I figured I may as well find something to do with my time since I'm not quite sure what else to do here...

So! I wanted to offer being anyone's butler, or... something like that, anyway. Since I wouldn't be living with the person or anything, ahaha... [He laughs a bit nervously.] But I could at least help people out with housework such as cleaning or cooking. Would anyone happen to be interested? It wouldn't be limited to one person, either.. I wouldn't mind helping multiple people with that. Or with anything else, for that matter. So if someone doesn't need me to do housework, I could at least help with things like moving furniture and stuff... or whatever else, really! I'll do my best with whatever it is.

[And then a long pause, as he thinks of whether or not he has anything else to say... nope.] Ah, I guess that's about it, so... just let me know!

[And then off the feed goes...! Later on, Hayate can be found around the item shop, looking for things like nails and screws. It's about time he fixed that door of Aoba and Mikado's...! And then he'll be heading on back to C7.]

[Open to all!]

[Anyone walking around in community building 7, the plaza, or possibly anywhere else in the village may come across a walking box. Inside this walking box is the feminine-looking Hayate, wearing the girls' new feather dress, no less. Absolutely no one must see him in a dress, nope...

It's rather hard to see where he's going (even with a small opening in the box), so he just may get lost on his way to the clothing store and end up anywhere around the village..! Or he may bump into you. Which, in that case, one may hear shouting from inside of the mysterious box-]

U-uwaaaaaaaah! I'm sorry, please excuse me!

Sooo basically, Hayate comes from an anime that bulldozes the fourth wall down and makes references to everything. Because of that, he's well aware of many anime, manga, video game, etc. series.

I really, really doubt a case where he would end up saying something about that would come up, aside from maybe his first post. Even then though, I'm pretty sure I won't do it haha; But! Just in case, I'm throwing up this permission post.

tl;dr Would it be okay if Hayate mentioned someone or something from someone's world being in an anime/manga/game in his?

The farthest it would go is something along the lines of "ohey, there's someone with your name and face in the so-and-so manga!" or something. But again, I'm like. 90% sure that won't happen anyway. BUT I WANT TO BE CAUTIOUS so yeah...

y/n? Just fill this sucker out. If not, I'll just assume your answer is no anyway. o/ (So you may as well just comment if you particularly want him to... or something.)

Character

Name: Hayate Ayasaki
Fandom: Hayate the Combat Butler
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Time Period: chapter 351
Wing Color: Light blue (like his hair!)
History: Wiki

Personality:
“Work hard, for those who are honest have the last laugh.”

Throughout his life, Hayate has always gone by those words that were told to him by a man in a Santa Claus suit. You know, despite the fact that that same man refused to give him gifts because he’s too poor. But because of it, he’s an extremely sweet, honest, reliable, and faithful young man. He does his best to protect, help, and keep others—especially if they are dear to him—happy, even if it means putting his own life on the line or eating soup made of dish soap. If someone needs him and calls out his name, he’ll come to the rescue, no matter where he or they may be. He has done this numerous times throughout the series, especially with Nagi. Stuck in a tree? He’s on it. Kidnapped? He’s got this. Need your great grandmother to suck blood out of his head so she can look young again? …yep. So of course, many of these situations are incredibly dangerous or embarrassing, but he comes through in the end with little to no hesitation.

As mentioned, Hayate is really sweet, but sometimes his kindness and generosity goes a little too far. Whenever he has spare money that isn’t going toward paying off his debt to Nagi, 9/10 times, he spends it on others. Whether it be through gifts or just donating 100,000 yen to random people in need on the streets, the money is usually spent on others, rather than himself, which can sometimes get him into tight situations. And on that note, he’s really thoughtful when it comes to gift-giving. If he gets a gift for someone, he tends to get some for other people as well, like when he gave Nagi a hairpin, Maria a stuffed doll, Hinagiku baked cookies, etc.

He’s also very faithful and responsible. As mentioned, Hayate’s too poor for even Santa Claus (who happened to be Nagi’s grandfather), as he basically had been given a 150,000,000 yen debt from his parents for Christmas, which he then owed to his mistress Nagi. A tempting offer of that value had once been given to him with absolutely no catch at all. Even then though, Hayate declined it in order to stay with his master. After all, she had done so much for him already; he couldn’t possibly leave her like that. In addition to that, Nagi had once lost a bet to Klaus where she had to get first place in a race or else Hayate would get fired. Being the couch potato that she is, naturally, she lost (though she did come incredibly close). In the end, she and Maria tried to make it so that Hayate was not responsible for her loss. Believing that it was only fair for him to do so, he came in and claimed responsibility anyway.

“Hayate’s been through a lot, although you can’t tell at all by looking at him.”

Hayate has terrible parents, really. Before abandoning him with a huge debt and selling his organs to the yakuza (which disgusted even them, but they took up his parents’ offer anyway), they forced him into work at a young age, most of which was rather shady. His parents spent all of their money and savings gambling to “invest in their dreams,” leaving Hayate to make up for the income loss by lying about his age and taking on various jobs. As shown in the beginning of the series, he lost his job after his boss found out about his age, and by his parents, no less. On top of that, they ruined his education until he became Nagi’s butler and was able to attend school again. He was even blamed for stealing lunch money from his classmates when it was actually his parents who did it. Absolutely no one trusted Hayate because of his parents. Neighbors, classmates, teachers… no one. It had even gotten to the point where he truly believed—and perhaps even wished—he was going to die. It wasn’t until Athena found and cared for him that he was able to pick himself back up (and only to fall once again for some time due to the huge fight he had with her). Despite all of this, he manages to keep a smile on his face as if nothing is wrong, making characters like Hinagiku unable to tell that he has such a harsh background unless they are told that. And although he may not show it, he does get upset rather easily. (And apparently, he actually concentrates better when he’s like that.)

Piggybacking on that, he can be pretty optimistic at times. When Hinagiku finds out about his past and he finds out about hers, she questions whether or not there was a reason their parents had abandoned them. Hayate’s response was: “There may have been a reason, or there may not have been one. We may seem really unfortunate to others, and we may carry a deep wound in our hearts. But where we stand now isn’t that bad, is it?” Their pasts and wounds don’t really matter to him. To him, what’s important is where they are at the present, and maybe even where they will eventually go.

Unfortunately for him, he’s incredibly feminine-looking. Between that and the fact that Nagi and Maria enjoy making him crossdress, he can really confuse people sometimes. Aside from the fact that nearly the entire female cast in the series has some sort of crush for him, his feminine-look (and maybe even personality) can get even men (and tigers) to fall for his “alter ego” and ultimately in love with him, whether they know it’s him or not. His moe moments and ability to change his voice and sound exactly like a girl don’t help his case at all.

Hayate is very easily moved, as well as embarrassed. He’s definitely not a man who’s afraid to cry, either. For example, he did so after finding out that Maria had infiltrated the school just to check up on him because she was worried about him. Being the neglected child that he was, he really hadn’t ever had someone do something like that for him before, so he was really touched by it. As far as being embarrassed goes, pretty much the entire series is a good example of that…!

Adding on to that, he can be rather innocent and slow about some things. At his school, he has even been dubbed as the most innocent student there. He blushes furiously upon seeing a porn magazine, and while staying with Hinagiku after being kicked out of the mansion by Nagi, Hinagiku suggested that they take a bath together (or so he thought). Hayate’s reaction wasn’t even coherent. It just came out as “HUWAH UWAH BUWAH UWAH BWAAAAAAAH” and consisted of all the flailing. There was also a time where he and Nagi were alone in a hotel room and on a bed together, and she was freaking out. Of course, he didn’t see anything that was wrong with this. Though, that could also just be because she is a lot younger than him, so he doesn’t see her in a way that could get him flustered in a situation like that (someone in the cast had even once suggested that Hayate doesn’t really see Nagi as a grown woman). Had it been someone like Maria, Hinagiku, or even Ayumu (especially later in the series), the situation would have probably played out a bit differently, whether it be through constant blushing and flailing, or even… not-so-innocent thoughts.

Strengths:
“Even if he makes some mistakes or loses in a fight or two, Hayate is still Hayate. But I always had this image of Hayate being an invincible hero somewhere in my mind.”

Hayate can… basically do almost anything and everything, and quickly and efficiently, at that. Cooking, cleaning, baking, fighting, gardening, chasing speeding cars via bicycle, drawing manga, using fire-arms and swords… He’s got all of that covered, plus more.

His physical strength… yeah, he has superhuman strength, as well as speed, reflexes, and endurance, the great majority of which, including courage, had been given to him by Athena. His speed supposedly comes from his name though, literally meaning “gust of wind,” which was given to him by his parents so that he could flee from tax collectors easily. He can do over 360 push-ups with his index finger, and without breaking a single sweat. He’s been run over by a car before. Despite his critical condition and loss of blood, he was able to somehow get out of a shark’s mouth and then throw it at another shark, aiming it perfectly so that it would end up biting the other. So yeah. Hayate’s pretty much magical a tank.

Because of his parents’ shady work, Hayate has picked up on many strange talents. For example, he can easily tell if something is authentic or fake due to him helping his dad sell fake art. Customers would purchase a work of art from his father, who would then hand it over to the innocent and adorable Hayate, whom nobody would suspect of swapping the original for a fake! Except he did. So because of that, he notices these things easily. He received that talent—as well as many others, questionable or not—fairly quickly though, proving how swift his learning ability is. While in Athena’s castle, he learned how to do a large amount of what he knows now, and in a short amount of time.

As far as being talented in cooking goes, he’s capable of getting Nagi to unknowingly eat things that she wouldn’t normally eat by covering up the smells of those foods. Even then though, he still can’t get her to like those foods on her own. He was, however, able to get her to exercise, even though she hates sports. He’s got good persuasive skills, when he needs them..!

Also, he’s got a knack for bulldozing the fourth wall down, is great at UFO catcher games, and is also an airhead gigolo, as many refer to him as.

Weaknesses:
Despite his insane strength, Hayate is still human! He’s definitely not invincible or anything. So he can get injured and have near-death experiences (even if he does somehow get out of them). And he can and has gotten sick as well.

Compared to the rest of the cast, Hayate really isn’t too bright when it comes to academics. This is especially the case with mathematics, though he supposedly overcame that weakness. While everyone else knows multiple languages, he can only speak “1.5” of them. Just Japanese, and apparently his English is terrible (though it does improve, and to the point where he uses it against Ayumu on her birthday). His grades in school aren’t too great either. He gets just-passing grades, and nearly got held back once.

His luck is also absolutely atrocious. Anything that one would believe should never happen, happens to Hayate, and in the absolute worst way possible. Dropping an important box? No big deal. Anyone could easily go fetch that! ...That’s not exactly the case for Hayate though. Said important box would fall onto a truck and travel great distances, only to have a group of flying geese on their way to Siberia take it while Hayate chases them on telephone lines and falls into the ocean. And when he gets saved, the boat that rescues him is on its way to Brazil. And when he finally gets home, a tiger will steal it. Then of course, the one time he actually needs to buy Packy (Pocky), everyone and their mom is buying it, leaving the shelves for it in stores completely empty. So he makes it himself, only to have it get run over by a truck. Only Hayate. Other characters in the series like Wataru even use Hayate’s bad luck to their advantage. While playing a crucial game of roulette with his mother, Wataru called Hayate and asked if he should pick red or black. Hayate said red, so Wataru picked black and won.

An entire episode was actually dedicated to Nagi trying to figure out what his weaknesses are. In the end, the only one they could find is his inability to understand girls. He’s really dense, and possibly not has empathetic as he should be around them. He always says things that end up getting girls angry. He’s implied that Maria looks a lot older than she actually is many times, which happens to be her pet peeve. And he’s also prodded at Hinagiku’s when claiming that she would “never do anything so girly as writing a love letter.” Of course, it’s not intentional; he just doesn’t understand them. As Ayumu says, Hayate has really bad luck with women.

On that note, he misunderstands many other things easily too. For example, he’s gotten kicked out of the mansion on countless occasions. During many of those times, Nagi didn’t even mean that she wanted him to leave, but he overreacted and thought she was dismissing him. Then there’s just the big misunderstanding of the entire series where Hayate was trying to kidnap Nagi in the beginning, only to make it sound like he was actually asking her out. He had no idea she interpreted it that way though, making things rather complicated.

Samples

First Person:
Hmmm. Is this working…? Wait, this is… video?! N-no…! [CRAP CRAP NO ONE MUST SEE THIS DRESS. The feed shuts off immediately, and then comes on again, this time in voice only.]

A-ahh there we go… Hello there! This is a very strange journal… But it is some sort of communication device, right? Or at least, that’s what it looks like. But anyway! Would anyone happen to be able to tell me where I am? I don’t recognize this place at all, and it doesn’t seem like Milady’s mansion is anywhere nearby… I don’t remember dying or being in a dangerous situation recently either, so this couldn’t be heaven… So if anyone could let me know, I would really appreciate it!

[After glancing back down at his current outfit…] ..Ah also, where may I be able to find my clothes? It’s kind of cold out, and, well… These… definitely aren’t mine… [sounding just a wee bit ticked there, and then the feed cuts off.]

Third Person:
Something didn’t feel right. Something felt… off. Normally, Hayate had no problems sleeping. This wasn’t one of those times though. He felt groggy, as if he had overslept, though for someone who generally only sleeps for three hours a day, that doesn’t take much. Even then though, something was definitely off, and the sharp pain on his back did not help.

The blue-haired boy rolled over and onto his stomach so that his back wasn’t pressed against what he suddenly realized was not a bed. How strange. The surface he lied on was hard like the floor, and the scent of it made him realize that it was probably wood. …Why is he lying on wood? Did he fall off his bed or something? Definitely strange. Figuring that he clearly overslept and needed to get up and get started with his day before Maria and Nagi wake up, Hayate pressed his hands against the flooring to push himself up. As he did so, he suddenly paused halfway after feeling a strange sensation on his back. Or at least, a strange sensation that wasn’t the painful one he noticed upon waking up moments ago. This was a different one. In fact, it felt like fabric. Clothes, perhaps? Why on Earth would there be clothes above him though? Guess there’s only one way to find out. Hayate continued pushing himself up until he was back on his feet and felt even more clothes surrounding him. When he raised his arm, he could feel the ceiling of wherever he was.

“A closet…?” How the hell did he manage to get himself inside of a closet…?

Wanting to figure out what the heck was going on as soon as possible, he felt around the walls of the pitch-dark closet until he finally found the door and pushed it open. As he stepped out of it—or rather, stepped down from it—he noticed that it wasn’t exactly a closet as he had thought. Instead, it was a wardrobe—a wardrobe inside of a room that Hayate did not recognize at all. He called out, “Milady! Maria-san!” but there was no answer. If it weren’t for the fact that Nagi had lost her entire fortune not long ago, he would have thought that it was just some random room inside of the mansion. The mansion was huge, after all, so it would only be natural for him to not have seen every single room there. This obviously wasn’t the case though.

He quickly glanced around the room, hoping to find something that would reveal his whereabouts to him. After a moment, he found just that: a window. Hayate immediately walked on over to it and peered outside, and just as quickly realized that he really was in some random place that he did not recognize. The scenery outside was unlike any place he had ever been before. Above all else though, it was snowing. Considering the time of year it was, there was no possible way for it to be snowing, right…? It was then that he also spotted a lion making its way around outside, with people walking casually around it. The people had wings, and aside from those wings, many of them didn’t even look human! In fact, one of them was blue!

Running through the scenario in his head, Hayate came to a conclusion. He came out of a closet and found himself somewhere that is clearly not his home, or possibly even his world. It’s snowing. There are non-human looking people outside. There’s a lion. A lion that isn’t that stupid, lazy, self-centered tiger, Tama. With these observations, there was only one logical conclusion Hayate could come to. There was only one place this could possibly be. And because of where that place is, he’s pretty sure that he’s just dreaming. Or dead. But last time he thought he was dead, he got himself into a rather awkward situation. So clearly this place must be…

“Could this be… Narnia?!”
